LONDON: The Metropolitan Police on Thursday arrested Junaid Safdar, the son of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Maryam Nawaz, after a scuffle broke out close to Avenfield flats. Authorities detained him over a bodily assault.
Junaid Safdar claimed that the protesters outdoors the Avenfield House, a luxurious condo scheme, had spit on and tried to assault him.
Zakaria Hussain, Hussain Nawaz’s son, was additionally arrested alongside Safdar, London Police confirmed.
In a tweet, Maryam Nawaz stated the “PTI workers stationed outside London flat shouted [explective] every time they saw Junaid [her son]”.
“Anyone would have reacted,” she added.
Earlier, PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz had reached London’s Heathrow Airport to return to Pakistan.
Sharif and his daughter had arrived in London previous to Eid-ul-Fitr and had been anticipated to land in Lahore round 6PM on Friday, per week after an accountability court docket sentenced the daddy and daughter to 11 and eight years, respectively, in jail within the Avenfield Properties reference case.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had disclosed earlier that it has organized two helicopters to shift the father-daughter duo to the Adiala jail following their arrival in Lahore.
